John F. Seiberling
Federal Building
Project Overview
The John F. Seiberling Federal Building sits above an unheated multi-floor parking garage. As part of upgrades to improve building performance and reduce energy consumption, portions of the parking garage ceiling (serving as the floor for the offices above) were insulated, reducing energy consumption, improving occupant comfort and eliminating condensation formed during the winter months underneath the office carpeting.
The R-20 Staycell® HYBRID System application consisted of 2.5” Staycell® 504 covered with 1/2” Staycell ONE STEP® 502 intumescent spray foam insulation. The HYBRID System was chosen because it was more cost-effective than a standard foam and intumescent coating system.
